Massive Traffic Jam into Kuala Lumpur January 30, 2007

Aiyoh!!!!!!!!!!….my left leg is aching badly from having to press and depress the clutch pedal. My arse is aching as well from sitting on the car seat for 2 1/2 hours and all because of the unusual heavy bumper-bumper to traffic jam going into Kuala Lumpur. Normally it would only take me about an hour to reach office from my home in Kajang.

I left my house at 7.00am and reached office at 9.45am all because of the Federal Territory Day (Hari Wilayah) dress rehearsal that resulted in several road closures leading into Kuala Lumpur. By the way Federal Territory Day falls on 1st February 2007 and coincidentally, Thaipusam Day also falls on that day.

I wished they, meaning the media would have informed the motorists about the road closures a day or two before the dress rehearsal. That would have save me the trouble of driving into Kuala Lumpur as I would have parked my trusty little car at the Kajang KTM Komuter train station and board the train to Kuala Lumpur.

I am not sure whether there will be another dress rehearsal tomorrow, but my instincts tells me most likely there will be. Guess I have to take the train to Kuala Lumpur tomorrow morning from Kajang or perhaps I should just call in sick eh ? Yeah…that would be more like it…just call the Human Resource Department and in a pathetic and sick voice say..

“AHHHHHCHOOOOOOOO…..sniff-sniff…AHHHHHHCHOOOOOOO….
eh…babe…I tak datang ke opis…sebab..I ni demam lah. Tolong bagi tahu boss ya.” (Yo babe, I ain’t comin’ to the office cos’ I am having the flu..Pass the message to the boss)

BTW below is the official report from BERNAMA

Thousands Trapped In KL Traffic Congestion

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 30 (Bernama) — The closure of several major roads in this city due to a rehearsal in conjunction with the Federal Territories Day on Thursday, left thousands of motorists trapped for over two hours in massive traffic congestion Tuesday.

The roads leading to Jalan Raja and Dataran Merdeka were closed from 5am and to 9.45am, causing many people arriving for work late.

A Jalan Bandar traffic police spokesman said Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Mahameru, Jalan Travers, Jalan Kuching, Jalan Brickfields, Jalan Bangsar, Jalan Sungai Besi, Jalan Istana and Jalan Syed Putra were among the badly congested roads.

“Dataran Merdeka is the pulse of Kuala Lumpur. When it’s closed, all the surrounding roads will be affected and this was the cause of the congestion. Our personnel were deployed at the major roads as early as 5am to direct traffic. Now, the traffic is smooth.

“We understand that many arrived late for work and lost their patience because of this. The rehearsal was held by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) but it’s understood that they did not give any early notices… in the end, the traffic (police) were blamed,” he told Bernama when contacted here today.

The Integrated Transport Information System (ITIS) electronic billboards erected at many major roads in the city had actually informed motorists of the road closures over the past several days.

However, many angry drivers met by Bernama said the massive congestion was not acceptable.

M. Santhiran, 40, who was trapped in the middle of Jalan Sungai Besi on the way to work at Jalan Tun Razak, said: “Had they informed road users much earlier, surely things like this would not have happened.

“We don’t even know about the closures and where are the traffic personnel? Imagine if someone is in emergency or sick, a situation like this will surely cause difficulties to them,” he said.

Checks by Bernama showed that the ITIS billboards did not give information on alternatives routes other than telling motorists of the traffic jams and that they would be late.

As at 1pm, the traffic situation was gradually returning to normal.

Yesterday, was exactly two months since Wei Han came to the world. Mommy decided to give him a new look, a hair cut to be exact and now he looks like one of Malaysia’s notorious thug…Botak Chin (no relation to me although Botak Chin and I share the same surname).

Take a look at some pictures of the ‘new and improved‘ Botak Chin.

(Yeah Baby….bald is the way to go man)

(I look better from this angle eh ? **wink-wink**)

I am not sure what should be the title of this post as my mind is totally blank. So I decided to talk about children mastering the art of relaxing.

Ee Ee seems to be picking up some my bad habits; I ain’t complaining though. You see, kids nowadays loves to mimic the mannerisms of adults. For example, see the picture below: -

Ee Ee understands that her daddy just loves to sit back and relax on the chair after a hard day at the office doing absolutely nothing and getting paid for it. She has mastered the art of relaxing and I just love her for doing it so well.

Wei Han too has picked up some my bad habits as well. Mind you he’s only one and half month old. Boy…babies nowadays sure are fast learners. Just look at the image below,

Wei Han has mastered the art of sleeping on the job…just like Daddy!!! I must have done something good in my past life to be blessed with two understanding children.

Ee Ee and Wei Han, both of you are the love of my life…err not forgetting Mommy also.

Me wife and I has enrolled Ee Ee to a nearby preschool in December 2006 and on 3rd January 2006, Ee Ee started her 1st of many steps in receiving proper education. Err…I would say proper education as most preschools are designed to enabled toddlers to interact with each other.

On that day itself, my wife brought Ee Ee to preschool and as usual Ee Ee was a bit hesitant to step inside the school compound. Mommy had to coax her into entering the compound and Ee Ee reluctantly did so. Of course my wife had to hang around the compound because Ee Ee was a bit shy and always wanted to company of her mum. This was going on for about 2 days but lately, Ee Ee would walk into the preschool compound without any hint of hesitation. I guess she feels comfortable with her new surroundings. I mean there’s plenty of activities to do such as drawing, singing and of course playing. I am happy for Ee Ee that she will be making new friends and in fact on the 2nd or 3rd day she had a keen attraction to a 3year old boy. Wow….she sure knows who she wants to befriend with.

I wasn’t there with my wife to accompany Ee Ee on the 1st day of preschool as I had to work. I feel awfully guilty about it….and still do…..

Ee Ee, by the time you’re old enough to read through papa’s blog, I want to say that I am sorry for not accompanying you and mommy to your first day of preschool and I do hope you accept my apology.

Let us usher in the new year!!! January 1, 2007

Yep, it’s 2007. A time for us to start anew. Out with old, in with the new. Well, personally we don’t have to wait for the new year to start anew. It can be any day within the 365 days we have. As for me, well, I’m not quite sure what to achieve in year 2007. I hope…no..I strive to be a loving husband to my wife and a caring father to my 2 young kids. I do admit, I haven’t been exactly the model husband and father that most wives would want in their husband to be, but I am still learning.

I do hope to complete my Master’s Degree Dissertation by April 2007 (err…that was the extended deadline the university gave to me) and I have to complete it by hook or by crook.

Exercise more (not in the bedroom). Yep, I need to shed some kilograms off my body to stay lean and mean.

What else the for 2007?…Hmmmm…ah..yes..discipline myself to save as much money as possible in the bank (easier said than done).

Well that’s all I think I need to do for the new year. So I would like to take this opportunity to say

HAPPY NEW YEAR
