After 17 months February 28, 2009

I have finally spent my last day on a ship and waved goodbye to its great bunch of crew. This ship was built from the ground up and was designed set sail to find a land filled with gold. The owner of the ship hired a capable captain and a crew of 100 persons. All of us were eager to set sail. All of us were ready to battle the rough seas to reach the land filled with gold. All of us were confident. All of us were hungry for adventure. All of us knew that we’re going to be rich.

All of us including the owner didn’t know what we got ourselves into.

Along the way, the ship sadly lost its captain. A capable captain I must say. A captain who knew what he had to do. A captain who knew how to bring out the best from his crew. A captain who was liked by many and loathed by few. A captain who had a heart of gold. A captain that I will surely miss for it was him who brought me in to help him guide the ship to reach the land filled with gold.

For 10 months, the crew steer the ship without their captain. Not an easy task I must say but we had to do what was needed. Throughout our journey we encountered rough seas that bombarded our ship. Eventually the ship – already having lost her captain was slowly succumbing to the merciless seas. Our ship was damaged and slowly sinking. We knew we had to dock at the nearest port to carry out much needed repairs but alas, our ship was deemed beyond repair. The owner of the ship decided that it was not worth the money to fix the ship and set sail again to find the land fill with gold. The owner had lost the will to find the land filled with gold. And so, the ship laid their listless on the dock, rusting away and waiting for someone to take her away.

The crew of the ship was devastated. For all the crew’s hard work and sacrifice, they were rewarded with nothing more than a glimmer of false hope.

So one by one, the crew parted ways and said their goodbyes. Some still held onto the hope that the ship will set sail again and decided to stay with the ship. I finally decided to do what’s best for my future and parted ways with the ship and her wonderful crew.

My heart was and still is filled with sadness that for this ship had potential to sail as far as the eye could see. That her crew had the potential to command the ship. That eventually we will find the land filled with gold.

But unfortunately, the land filled with gold will never be found and forever be a forgotten dream…

Just take a look at his collection and you will know why I say it is DA BOMB !!!! He has almost the entire SW Clone Trooper Phase I & II figures and a lot of Republic Gunships, AT-TE and some star fighters as well. I reckon his entire collection would have cost him a bomb but if one is a die-hard Star Wars fan one wouldn’t mind forking out a lot of dough for it.  He would make George Lucas proud and it makes me wanna go out there and grab all Star Wars figurines and start a mega collection.

….this is just too much to bear lah. I am subscribing to a 1.0Mbps wired broadband internet connection line from Streamyx and I am not getting half of it lah…

speedtest-23-02-09-1138pm1

This is the result of the speed test I done (thanks to Eina for the URL website) . The results shows that I am only getting 183kbps download speed!!!!  How can this be lah!!! I mean if I am subscribing to a 384kbs line then I would understand but I am subscribing to a 1.0Mpbs and yet this happens!!!!!

Please lah TM Net!!!! Get your act together and resolve this issue for the benefit of your subscribers

…Telekom Malaysia Streamyx internet broadband connection service from house is so freaking slow that I want to puke lah. I upgraded my 384kbps broadband line to a 1.0mbps on 12th February online  via www.streamyx.com and within 3 days, my line was upgrade to 1.0mpbs.

But for some funny reason, I was unable to experience even 500kbps!!!! I did a Streamyx speed-o-meter test and found out that my download speed was a pathetic, jaw dropping and unbelievable 290kbps!!!!!  I just can’t understand what is going on with TM Net our local wired internet service provider. I have to pay RM88 per month for a 1.0Mbps wired broadband line which in my opinion is quite costly when you can get 10 times the speed at approximately the same fee in other ASEAN countries.

If Malaysia is seriously looking into making broadband service available to every Malaysian household, TM Net has better get it’s act together.

I finally found CC -7567 aka Captain Rex loitering around  Toys R’  Us at Mid Valley and quickly grabbed one and paid for it before someone else takes him away from me.

Now this figurine is somewhat slightly different than the first Clone Trooper figurine I bought. This one comes with a removable clone helmet as you can see from the images I uploaded below. Also the Captain Rex figurine comes with the trademark two DC-17 pistols which he uses them whenever there is a chance to annihilate separatists droids aka clankers.

Now, Clone Trooper Stumpy of the 501st Legion has a commander officer to report to as I travel the galaxy in search of Commander Cody.

No….those aren’t GPS coordinates and no these aren’t figures of any bills. These are the numbers referring to our wedding anniversary. We were married on 20th February of the year 2002. We have been married for 7 years now. Now 7 years of marriage is a pale comparison to couples who have been married for more than 2 decades, like my mom and my dad. But in 7 years of marriage, my wife and I were blessed with two adorable kids. Yes, having and raising children of your own is perhaps is one of the best feeling one could ever feel. Of course kids are annoying, run around alot and so forth and so on but then, without them, life would be empty.

Anyway back to my 7 years of marital bliss. To celebrate our 7 years of marriage, my wife and I had lunch at a Japanese restaurant named Yuzu in The Gardens Mid Valley, Kuala Lumpur and  yes I do love food from the Land of the Rising Sun. The food as excellent by the way and I guess that’s the closes one can get to a true authentic Japanese food. I couldn’t really remember what I had but then it was some Eel and some tempura and some buck wheat rice and so Miso soup and something else. But having lunch to celebrate 7 years of marital bliss isn’t what I wanted to blog about and honestly it would be boring to just talk about eating food no ?

My intention to blog about our me and my wife celebrating 7 years of marriage was to remind us that even though both of us have 2 kids and have been spending a lot of time with them, looking after them,  we should never neglect to have some quality time together as a couple. Quality time does not only mean making love lah – but it does help lah in fostering a long and meaningful marriage. Quality time also means spending time together, just the both of us, walking while holding our hands, talking , laughing – well just being a couple minus the kids. It was like dating the love of your life without a care in the world. We were so happy just to be together – no more worrying about the kids, no more chasing after your kids who constantly want to go somewhere you don’t want to go, no more kids whining and complaining, no more kids want to eat at McDonalds – I PREFER BURGER KING!!!!!.

I had a great time with my wife alone even though we were basically spending our afternoon at a shopping complex. Of course we bought some items along the way, but this time the items was for us and not for the kids. We was our time to be a couple and I cherished that moment forever.

May Lin (my wife’s name, if you didn’t know) I’ve have only three words to say to you.

I LOVE YOU

Follow up from my previous post of Clone Trooper Stumpy, I’ve managed to take some pictures of Stumpy while he is on duty.

As you can see, Stumpy is quite alone and needs the company of his fellow Clone Troopers. Don’t you worry Stumpy, I will search the galaxies and rally your fellow Clone Troopers to join you to wipe out them clankers!!!

That’s right, after much deliberation, I got myself a Clone Trooper figurine from the Star Wars The Clone Wars made by US toymaker, Hasbro. I happen to be out shopping with my wife and kids at Parkson Grand, Plaza Metro Kajang when we all decided to go to the Toys Department/Section. As my two munchkins were looking for new toys for either me or the Mother to buy, I stumbled across some Star Wars merchandise mainly figurines. I saw a Clone Trooper and not a standard issue Clone Trooper..but a Clone Trooper from the 501st Legion!!! Yes…the ones with the blue markings on the helmet and body amour and to read more about the Five ‘O’ One, click on this http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/501st_Legion.

Without hesitating, I quickly grabbed one (although i wanted to buy a dozen of them to form my own Grand Army of the Republic) and paid for it. It costs me RM36.99!!!. Yes you heard me right, RM36!!!. In the US of A  it’s being retailed for USD4.99 only. How on earth the same figurine costs RM36.99 in Malaysia is beyond me.

For RM36.99, you get the Clone Trooper figurine, three yes three weapons that comprises of standard issue DC-15S blaster, a DC15A Rifle and a PLX-1 portable missile launcher that can actually launch a missile !! and a Clone Trooper Identification card. What I love about figurines from Hasbro is the number of articulation it has. I mean you can articulate his arms, forearms, wrist, head/neck, thighs, lower leg and ankle. Now that’s a lot of possible positions you could articulate with this figurine.

However, I found out that his left leg is shorter than his right leg. He can stand properly with no problem at all but he seems to be leaning on his left rather than standing. My wife managed to “correct” his left leg by cutting a card paper according to the shape of sole of his boot and used a double sided tape to stick it. Hmmmm….since this Clone Trooper is kinda different from his fellow Clones because of his lopsidedness, this guy shall be known as Stumpy.

Stumpy would not be complete with other fellow Clone Troopers such as Clone Captain Rex, Clone Commander Cody, Clone Commander Bly and Clone Pilot Oddball by his side fighting off them clankers of the Separatists Army.  But for now, I guess Clone Trooper Stumpy would have to be on guard by his own as I search the galaxies for his comrades..

Pictures of CT6767 aka Stumpy coming soon…

There was a particular video that I recorded of my two munchkins singing CNY song just days before the new lunar year. I should have uploaded into my blog but totally forgot about it until now. What made me laugh was the way my son Wei Han sang the song or shall I say mimic the lyrics. I replay the video so many times because it is just so darn funny the way he kinda pause for a split second at the end of the chorus line.
